I was just an average kid with a love for food and a less-than-athletic physique. College brought about some changes as I experimented with fat burners, protein shakes, and portion control, managing to achieve a healthy weight for a while. But it wasn’t a sustainable solution. As my career took off and my 30s approached, health and nutrition took a backseat.
In 2016, I co-founded a food start-up with my partner, and it quickly became a whirlwind of food tasting, marketing, and managing the day-to-day operations. Unfortunately, amidst all the excitement, my personal health suffered. I reached a point where the scale was creeping closer to 90 kilograms.
Then came the wake-up call in 2017. My weight had skyrocketed to a level where I avoided stepping on a weighing machine altogether. Shopping became a source of embarrassment as many stores didn’t carry clothes in my size, forcing me to settle for loose-fitting garments. On top of that, I had developed a severe addiction to sugary foods. I knew they were detrimental to my weight, but I couldn’t resist indulging in them after every meal.
I had tried various diets in the past, but none of them had brought lasting results. Plus, I despised going to the gym. I was faced with a massive problem.
That’s when I discovered the concept of Low Carbohydrate Healthy Fat (LCHF) eating. The idea of embracing high fats caught my attention, and I dove into researching it further. I sought knowledge from doctors, nutritionists, and practitioners of the diet, eager to uncover the truth behind this scientific approach. Finally, I was convinced that LCHF was the way to go.
In 2017, I made the switch to LCHF, and I haven’t looked back since. It marked the beginning of my journey to reclaim freedom and regain control over my health.
After just two months of following the LCHF lifestyle at my own pace, I discovered something amazing—I was genuinely enjoying this new way of eating, and it brought along numerous other benefits. I felt more energized, said goodbye to lethargy, and even noticed an improvement in my skin.
Four months into the diet, my husband decided to join me on this health journey. Within eight weeks, he shed nearly 10 kilograms of unhealthy fat.
From that point on, there was no turning back. LCHF became my new normal, and I fell in love with my healthier self.
